“Salish Orca” designed by RMDC on her route to British Columbia

Last Tuesday on the 22nd of November 2016 “Salish Orca”, new built ferry for Canadian Owner BC Ferry, left Remontowa Shipbuilding and started her unique virgin voyage to British Columbia.  

She will cross the Atlantic Ocean, sail through Panama canal and finally go all the way up to reach her homeport Vancouver.

After crew training she will enter service between Powell River and Conox in spring 2017.

“Salish Orca “ is first of three, new generation dual fueled (LNG&MDO) ferries for BC Ferries, largest Canadian operator of British Columbia.

The Salish Class vessels are the first new generation LNG fueled ferries, designed to meet stringent environmental regulations, and provide maximum comfort for the passengers.

She can carry 600 passengers and crew and 150 cars (AEQ). She has 454 internal passengers seats and 176 at open decks.

Design has been developed from scratch at RMDC.
