TYPE AND APPLICATION

Samso is first LNG double ended ferry with dual fuel engines to be build in Remontowa Shipbuilding SA. She will operate between main land Hou and island Samso and is going to operate with service speed 14kn. Vessel has four thrusters and specially design bottom at ends for better manoeuvrability in the shallow water.

Owner of the vessel it’s Samso Kommune, choose Remontowa Group to build the vessel, because of long experience with designing and production of the LNG vessels. Full class and production design will be delivered by Remontowa Design and Consulting Office (member of Remontowa Group).

Vessel will have possibility to stowage 160 personal cars, or 16 lorries and 600 passengers. Cars will be stowed on main deck and two Hoistable decks over. On the ends of the main deck will be arranged hazardous zone area. Ventilation for the hold will be ensure by natural air flow thru 10% side openings. Embarkation to the vessel will be arrange by bow, aft visor and embarkation door directly to staircase. At that time vessel will be connected to shore ramp. To reduce time of operation in the harbours she will be equipped in automation mooring system to shore. Time of operation in the harbour will be below 15 min. Good ITV cameras around the vessel and two central bridges allow for excellent visibility and safe manoeuvrability for the captain.

Vessel will have DNV class, and will operate under the DMA administration.

She is going to be designed and built according to the highest European standards. Vessel will be designed to minimize its environment impact for waters around Denmark. Main propulsion system using LNG fuel with pilot amount of diesel ensure the lowest harmful emission and high fuel efficiency. The main gas engines in normal operation are able to deliver power for all thrusters and give required electric auxiliary power for the hotel with maximum speed just below 16 knots.

In order to ensure high voyage comfort for the travellers at the vessel is arrange Kiosk area. Interiors are going to be designed in close cooperation with the Owner, to ensure high comfort of the travellers, and according to high Danish standard. For all passengers there are available two main passenger lounges, which are arranged on Deck 4. From there it is possible to access external sun deck aft and forward, fitted out with benches for sun bathing. The ferry is also designed with special emphasis for handicapped, the wheelchairs users and people with blind/hearing deficiencies. Vessel has separate helicopter pick up area ready to be used for all the time in case of emergency. Vessel is design in close cooperation with owner and fire brigade at the Samso island to ensure the highest emergency response.
