Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. (member of Remontowa Holding) have announced that they have aquired a contract for delivery of one new Salish class ferry for canadian operator BC Ferries.
New ferry will replace Mayne Queen and together with Queen of Cumberland will be serving British Columbia connection between Swartz Bay and Southern Gulf Islands.
Delivery of the vessel to British Columbia is planned in 2022.
New vessel will be fourth in series, built based on Remontowa Marine Design & Consulting double ended ferry 145 AEQ design (Project no 2990).
Project utilizes clean propulsion system based on LNG fueled Diesel-Electric propulsion - power plant based on three Dual Fuel (DF) gensets and two azimuth propellers powered by electrical motor.
RMDC will deliver full scope of required documentation.
